Voter turnout is declining.

Voters who are increasingly disgusted with our politicians, campaigns and political system are staying home.

In 2012, for the first time in 16 years, fewer ballots were cast than in the previous presidential election – about four million less. It was also the first time in a decade that the turnout percentage of eligible voters in a presidential election was under 60 percent.

Voter turnout for the 2014 mid-term election was the worst in more than 70 years.

In 43 states, fewer than half the eligible voters bothered to cast a ballot.
